Gibson les r\u00e9alise avec des aimants Alnico 2 non polis, des bobinages asym\u00e9triques et une construction non paraffin\u00e9e (unpotted), avec une r\u00e9sistance moyenne de 8,3 k\u03a9 au manche et 8,7 k\u03a9 au chevalet. La particularit\u00e9 essentielle est le micro manche \u00e0 polarit\u00e9 magn\u00e9tique invers\u00e9e : en position interm\u00e9diaire, les deux micros produisent le fameux son hors phase de Greeny, tr\u00e8s creus\u00e9, nasal et \u00ab honky \u00bb, particuli\u00e8rement int\u00e9ressant pour le blues et les solos. En dehors de cette position, on retrouve un PAF vintage assez ouvert, dynamique et riche en harmoniques, avec un niveau de sortie mod\u00e9r\u00e9 plut\u00f4t orient\u00e9 blues, rock classique et hard rock vintage.
