Danelectro produced affordable guitars in the United States using ingenious solutions (these days they're made in Korea, but they still work very well!). The body of Danelectro guitars is generally hollow and made of Masonite. Brand ambassadors include JJ Cale, Jimmy Page, and Eric Clapton. Here it is in its Korean, 12-string version!
