There US Steel (often also called US Metal (in its reissued versions) is a high-gain distortion/overdrive pedal from the series SansAmp Character The Tech 21, designed to reproduce the spirit of modern American amps, particularly the big, highly compressed, and powerful Rectifier-style sound favored in hard rock and metal, features Level, Drive, Low, Mid, and High controls, as well as a unique "Character" knob that varies the tonal personality between different amp voicings, and includes speaker emulation for direct use in recording or through a PA system.
