This 1959 Stratocaster is one of the very last with a maple fretboard! Indeed, the neck, which boasts a magnificent flamed finish, dates from April, while the transition to rosewood occurred during May. Furthermore, it's a Custom Color: Olympic White over Sunburst, 1959 being the first year this color was available in the Fender color chart. In the early 2000s, luthier Andy Jellison of Gruhn Guitars removed some paint touch-ups from the body, a period during which George Gruhn examined the instrument. As for modifications, the ground wires were replaced, and the guitar was professionally refretted (involving an overspray on the fretboard and a new nut): it's perfectly playable. The still relatively thick neck is wonderfully comfortable. The tweed case is also worth a look; it's functional and has developed a magnificent patina over its 60 years of existence. This exceptional Stratocaster boasts an extremely rare combination: Olympic White finish and a maple neck!
