JHS Pedals Fumble

The Fumble isn't strictly speaking an overdrive pedal, but rather a JFET preamp/clean boost inspired by the very rare Dumble BBC-1. Its history is quite unusual: JHS created it after discovering that a design flaw had led to this circuit being included in the first version of the NOTADÜMBLË kit, when a different Dumble circuit had been planned. Given the enthusiastic response from users, the company decided to market this circuit as the Fumble. Equipped with only two controls (Input and Output), it adds warmth, harmonic richness, and dynamics without altering the tone of the guitar or amp. Its Input control is unique: it simultaneously affects the input level and the bass, allowing for a tighter or fuller sound. The Fumble excels as an "always-on" boost, for driving a tube amp, enriching an overdrive pedal, or serving as a solo boost. Despite its Dumble inspiration, it does not seek to reproduce the singing overdrive of the Overdrive Special amps, but rather their famous FET mode, offering a very musical and transparent clean boost.
