The Crunch is a tube preamp in pedal format, made in France, designed to recreate the character of British amps like the Marshall JCM800 and Plexi. It's part of the "Le Preamp" series, alongside the Le Clean, Le Lead, and Le Bass models. Unlike a simple overdrive pedal, it incorporates a genuine 12AX7/ECC83 tube operating at high voltage (200V), giving it dynamics, compression, and playing response very close to that of a real tube amp. It features two independent channels (Cold Fusion and Hot Fusion), each with its own gain and EQ, which can be used separately or blended using the Fusion mode to obtain a wide range of tones, from vintage crunch to powerful hard rock. It also includes an effects loop, an XLR output with Torpedo cabinet simulation, a headphone output, MIDI, and comprehensive connectivity, allowing it to be used in front of an amp or directly into an audio interface or PA system.
