Vox Ice 9 Joe Satriani

The Ice 9 is a signature overdrive pedal designed with Joe Satriani, launched in 2010, and named after the track "Ice 9" from the album Surfing with the Alien. Its main appeal lies in offering two overdrive characters: Vintage, warm, creamy, and fairly classic, and Modern, more aggressive and biting thanks to the use of a germanium diode. It has four controls: Gain, Tone, Bass, and Volume, with the Bass control positioned before the drive stage, allowing control over the amount of low end that drives the saturation. A "More" footswitch provides up to +14 dB of boost for solos. This makes it a much more versatile pedal than a simple "Satch-in-a-box": it ranges from light breakup and blues to a fairly muscular rock overdrive, with good dynamics and a wide range of tonal possibilities. The Vintage mode is particularly well-suited for classic blues/rock sounds, while the Modern mode is better suited to leads and hard rock.
