MXR M104 Distortion+

The Distortion+ is a classic overdrive/distortion pedal, first appearing in the 1970s, with a very simple circuit featuring only two controls: Output and Distortion. It offers a warm, gritty, and fairly mid-heavy tone, ranging from a light tube amp-style overdrive to an almost fuzz-like saturation with plenty of sustain. Its germanium diode clipping circuit gives it that distinctive vintage character, while with a low Distortion setting and a high Output setting, it works very well as a boost for an already cranked amp. It's a particularly iconic pedal for Randy Rhoads' sound, and it remains especially appealing for blues, 70s/80s hard rock, and vintage tones.
